Women In Global Business Network is seeking your input

The Women in Global Business (WIGB) Network, which was officially launched at the Australian Export Awards on the 1st December 2010, is a new joint initiative of the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) with State and Territory Governments to encourage, advance and support Australian women in achieving international business success.  As a Territory stakeholder, Chief Ministers Department (CMD) will work with Austrade and other State and Territory counterparts to create a strong national network of female exporters through the provision of support, referrals, information, training and connections internationally, with the ultimate objective being to increase female participation in international trade.  In the ACT context, the Women in Global Business Initiative will be particularly beneficial to a number of ACT female exporters given there are currently no targeted programs in this jurisdiction.

A National Manager has been appointed to deliver this two year initiative under the guidance of the steering committee which Business and Industry Development (CMD) is a part of.  On 17 and 18 February the committee will meet to establish a delivery plan for the next two years. As such  BID is seeking feedback from Network members including female staff of Network members, on what the priorities for ACT female exporters may be. This is an opportunity to provide the steering committee with some input on areas of support required for ACT female exporters and how we can tap into some existing programs.   If you are interested in providing some feedback please contact Laura Hartley either via email at laura.hartley@act.gov.au  or phone 62053051.
